On August 24th, 2022, then-head mod u/Randomuser1520 held a poll whether r/thecampaigntrail should add a new mod, considering that the subreddit was approaching 3000 members. The "yes" option overwhelmingly won out, 288 votes to 24.[1] On August 27th, Randomuser announced the mod[2], and allowed candidates to enter. Among them were NCT Devs Astro and Danxv, Jake Dionysos, Lt Dan Taylor and some minor candidates.
On August 30th, Randomuser started the election as planned. However, due to an apparent issue being that "Many people were able to vote multiple times," Randomuser deleted the post, and called off the ballot.[3] Randomuser would later seek advice from the community on how to proceed,[4] and the next day Astro and Dionysos acclamated to the third and fourth moderator slots.
